The TASKalfa MZ7001ci Series is part of EvolutionNext, Kyocera’s current A3 line. The headline features are the AI scanning and the cloud apps. The reason these machines keep showing up in our install base is the component life.

AI that fixes the scan before you see it

Image Defect Prevention, Tilted Document Correction, Super Resolution, Multiple Cropping and Handwriting Enhancement all run on the device. The practical effect is fewer rescans: a crooked page comes back straight, a faint handwritten note comes back readable, and a stack of receipts comes back as separate cropped files.

Three cloud apps, already installed

Kyocera Cloud Print and Scan removes the on-premise print server. Kyocera Cloud Capture indexes what you scan and handles eSignature. Kyocera Cloud Information Manager gives you keyword search across the archive. They ship on the device rather than as a project you fund later.

Security by design, not by checklist

FIPS 140-3 validated encryption, AES 256 on the SSD, TLS 1.3 on the wire, secure boot with run-time integrity checks, S/MIME, OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft modern authentication. Card authentication and secure print release cover the walk-up side. Three preset security levels get you configured without setting fifty options by hand.

Drums rated to 600,000 images

This is the part Kyocera has always been about. Long-life components mean fewer service events and fewer consumables in the waste stream, and Kyocera puts the drum life at up to three times what other manufacturers rate. BLI named Kyocera the Most Reliable A3 Brand for 2025 to 2027.

320 sheets in, 274 images a minute out

The dual scan document processor takes 320 sheets and runs up to 274 images per minute duplex. Front and back scan handles up to 16 sheets at once, and ID card scan puts both sides on one page. The processor is an option on every model, so you size it to how much scanning you actually do.

Finishing, folding and 12 x 48 banners

Finishers from a 1,000-sheet, 50-staple unit up to a 4,000-sheet, 100-staple unit, plus booklet making, tri-fold, Z-fold, hole punch, a 7-bin mailbox and an inserter. The multi-purpose tray takes banner stock to 12 x 48 in. and cover weights to 166 lb. index, so the jobs you outsource now can come back in-house.

What is EvolutionNext, and how is it different from the Evolution Series?
EvolutionNext is Kyocera’s current A3 line, launched in June 2025, and it follows the Evolution Series. The changes you notice day to day are the AI scanning features, three Kyocera cloud applications installed at the factory instead of bolted on later, and FIPS 140-3 encryption. What carries over is the part Kyocera has always been known for: long-life components, with drums rated up to 600,000 images. If you are running an Evolution Series device now, the workflows and the driver stack move across without retraining.
There is no useful list price answer, because almost nobody buys one of these outright at list. Most New Jersey businesses lease over 36 to 60 months with service, parts, toner and support bundled into a cost per page. What actually moves the monthly number is your volume, the finisher and document processor you need, and the term. We will quote it both ways, purchase and lease, so you can compare. Request a quote and we will size it against your actual meters. And to be clear about ours: the payment does not go up automatically every year.
Start with monthly volume, not with speed. Lighter workgroups do fine on the MZ4001i. The MZ5001i is where most New Jersey offices land. If you run a central copy room, or a lot of people queue at one machine in the morning, the top two models buy you the headroom. Then pick the document processor separately, because it is an option on every model in the series and it is the choice people most often get wrong. The 320-sheet dual scan processor is worth it if anyone in your office scans stacks; the 140-sheet unit is fine if they do not.
The cassettes run from 5.5 x 8.5 in. up to 12 x 18 in., and the multi-purpose tray takes banner stock up to 12 x 48 in. Paper weights run from 14 lb. bond to 166 lb. index, which covers card stock and cover weights most offices end up outsourcing. Standard capacity is 1,150 sheets across two 500-sheet cassettes and a 150-sheet multi-purpose tray, and you can build it out to 7,150 sheets.
It is built for it. Encryption is FIPS 140-3 validated with AES 256 on the SSD and TLS 1.3 on the wire, and the device runs secure boot with run-time integrity checks. Access control covers card authentication, secure print release, IP filtering, LDAP and Microsoft modern authentication, with S/MIME and encrypted PDF creation on the document side. Kyocera ships three preset security level configurations so you are not hand-setting every option, and the fleet reports to SNMP v3 and to a SIEM or syslog collector. We help HIPAA-regulated and public-sector customers document these controls as part of installation.

Kyocera Cloud Print and Scan, Kyocera Cloud Capture and Kyocera Cloud Information Manager come installed, which covers cloud storage, indexed capture and keyword search without an on-premise server. Output formats include searchable PDF, PDF, TIFF, JPEG, XPS and Microsoft Office file types. We configure the connectors and the scan presets during installation so users press one button.
