The Lineup

Five models, one platform

Every BP-71C shares the same controller, the same 10.1-inch interface, the same 300-sheet feeder and the same accessory family. You pick the engine speed that matches your monthly volume, then scale paper handling and finishing around it. If you outgrow the model later, the training and the workflows carry over.

What Makes It Different

The generation where security stopped being an add-on

The BP-71C Series is Sharp’s current Advanced Series platform. Most of what changed from the BP-70C you cannot see from across the room, which is exactly the point.

Security that checks itself at startup

A BIOS integrity check runs at every power-on and can self-recover if it finds a problem. Firmware attack prevention and intrusion detection watch the running device. Stored data is protected with 256-bit AES encryption, and Bitdefender antivirus is available as an option.

300 sheets in, 300 images a minute out

The duplexing single-pass feeder takes 300 sheets and scans up to 300 images per minute, with double feed detection so a stapled page does not silently skip. Smart Scan uses AI to correct skew, detect original size and pick the right compression.

10.1-inch panel, retractable keyboard

A customizable tilting touchscreen with menu-driven Easy Modes for the people who only ever make a copy. A keyboard slides out of the front for anyone typing a file name or an email address, and a walk-up motion sensor wakes the machine before you reach it.

Cloud and Microsoft 365 without a middleman

Cloud Connect scans and prints straight from Microsoft Teams folders, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Box, Dropbox and Google Drive. Email Connect handles scan to email through Exchange, Microsoft 365 or Gmail. Synappx Go adds touchless operation from a phone.

Finishing that ends the outsourcing

Staple finishers from a 50-sheet inner unit up to a 3,000-sheet stacking, 65-sheet stapling finisher, saddle-stitch booklet models, 3-hole punch, and an inner folding unit that does tri-fold, z-fold and c-fold. Bind the board packet in-house instead of sending it out.

Remote management, lower running cost

Synappx Manage handles cloud-based monitoring and remediation across the fleet, which is how we spot a problem before you call us. The series carries ENERGY STAR, EPEAT Gold and Blue Angel, uses roughly 50% recycled plastic, and posts among the lowest standby draw in its class.

Who It Fits

Where the BP-71C earns its keep in New Jersey

We place these across six industries, and the reasons differ by vertical. Here is what customers usually buy them for.

Law firms

A 300-sheet feeder that clears a discovery box without babysitting, saddle-stitched closing binders, secure print release so nothing sits in the output tray, and audit logging for client confidentiality obligations.

Healthcare

Encrypted storage, badge-based access control, the optional Data Security Kit and scan-to-EMR workflows that support HIPAA compliance programs. See our healthcare page for how we document controls at install.

Education

Tabloid color for curriculum materials, booklet finishing for program guides, per-department accounting, and network authentication that fits a campus directory.

Government & municipal

Independent security validation, records retention scanning, agenda packet production with fold and staple in one pass, and cooperative purchasing contract availability.

Financial services

Encrypted SSD, secure release printing, retention-friendly scan workflows, and color statements or proposals produced in-house rather than outsourced.

Manufacturing

Tabloid drawings and work instructions, 12 x 18 in. output, durable stock up to 110 lb. cover, and an optional long paper tray for line-side signage.

The machine is the easy part

Anyone can quote a BP-71C45. What determines whether you are happy in year three is who answers the phone, how fast a tech gets there, and whether your rate goes up quietly at renewal.

Questions

Sharp BP-71C Series FAQ

What is the difference between the Sharp BP-71C Series and the BP-70C Series?
The BP-71C is the current generation and replaces the BP-70C. The visible changes are the faster 300-image-per-minute single-pass feeder, a built-in retractable keyboard, a walk-up motion sensor that wakes the device as you approach, and an inner folding unit option. The bigger change is underneath: a BIOS integrity check with self-recovery, firmware attack prevention with intrusion detection, and optional Bitdefender antivirus. Speeds are the same at each model number, so the upgrade case is usually about security posture and support lifecycle rather than pages per minute.
There is no useful list price answer, because almost nobody buys one of these outright at list. Most New Jersey businesses lease over 36 to 60 months with service, parts, toner and support bundled into a cost per page. What actually moves the monthly number is your volume, your color mix, the finisher you need and the term. We will quote it both ways, purchase and lease, so you can compare. Request a quote and we will size it against your actual meters. And to be clear about ours: the payment does not go up automatically every year.
Start with monthly volume, not with speed. Lighter workgroups do fine on the BP-71C31 or BP-71C36. The BP-71C45 is where most New Jersey offices land. If you run a central copy room, or a lot of people queue at one machine in the morning, the BP-71C55 and BP-71C65 buy you the headroom. Every model in the series takes the same feeder, the same finishers and the same trays, so moving up a speed does not change the accessories or the user training.
The drawers run from 5.5 x 8.5 in. up to 11 x 17 in., and output goes up to 12 x 18 in. Paper weights run from 18 lb. bond to 110 lb. cover in the drawers, and the bypass tray takes 13 lb. thin stock up to 110 lb. cover. An optional long paper feeding tray handles longer stock for banners and signage.
It is built for it. The device runs a BIOS integrity check at startup with self-recovery, firmware attack prevention with intrusion detection, and 256-bit AES encryption for stored data. Network security covers TLS 1.3, WPA3 wireless, Kerberos, IP and MAC address filtering, protocol filtering and port control, with user authentication against Active Directory or LDAP. Bitdefender antivirus is available as an option, and the BP-FR12UL Data Security Kit adds HCD cPP v1.0e compliance. Sharp digital MFPs have also passed device penetration testing conducted by Keypoint Intelligence. We help HIPAA-regulated and public-sector customers document these controls as part of installation.
Yes. Scan destinations include email, desktop, FTP, network folders over SMB and USB, plus direct connections to Microsoft Teams folders, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Box, Dropbox and Google Drive. Email Connect handles scan to email through Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365 or Gmail. Output formats include searchable PDF, PDF/A, encrypted PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, TXT and RTF. We configure the connectors and the scan presets during installation so users press one button.

We walk your offices, inventory every printing device including the ones nobody remembers buying, pull the meters, and calculate what you are really spending per page across hardware, supplies, service and staff time. Then we show you the gap between that and a right-sized fleet. It takes about an hour of your time, it costs nothing, and there is no obligation to buy anything. Start here.

We cover Morris, Essex, Bergen, Passaic, Union, Somerset, Hudson, Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon counties from our Randolph, NJ office. Our technicians are ADS employees, and response commitments are written into the service agreement. Call 973-970-9737 to confirm coverage for your address.

Find out what your printing actually costs

Before you spec a BP-71C45 or a BP-71C65, let us show you the real number. The assessment is free, it takes about an hour, and roughly nine out of ten businesses discover they are spending more than they thought.
