A North Jersey nonprofit sends donor appeals, newsletters, and acknowledgment letters in waves, and for an organization on thin margins, postage spent carelessly is mission money left on the table.
The problem
Hand-applied postage and no rate shopping meant overpaying on a high-volume year-end appeal, with no clean way to report mail spend to a board that asks where every dollar goes.
What we did
We installed an FP mailing system that weighs each piece, applies the correct postage, and shops carrier rates automatically, and tracks spend so the development director can hand the board a real number.
The result
Postage and parcel costs dropped, the appeal went out without a trip to the post office, and reporting became a non-event.
“It’s quiet savings that repeats every mailing,” the director said. “For us, that’s program dollars.”
